Wanting to Sell Your Home? Spruce it Up with these Six Key Renovations

September 18, 2020

The time has come to sell your home. It probably will not be a good idea to sell your home as-is. After all, there are probably several renovations that should be completed before selling your home. But you do not have to renovate every single thing in your home that needs renovating. There are those places in your home that need more attention to attract more buyers. Here are the renovations you should complete to get a better return on investment (ROI) and help to sell your home faster.

Upgrade the front door – A potential buyer will pull up to your home and pull right off if they do not like what they see. That is why first impressions matter. Your front door is the focal point of your home’s exterior and can easily attract or detract buyers to see other Smiths Station AL homes. A renovation that is sure to pay off is to upgrade the front door. Apply a fresh coat of paint to your front door or replace it in its entirely. This is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to improve your home’s curb appeal and entice more buyers.

Update the garage door – Just as the front door contributes to the curb appeal of your home, so does the garage. It is an essential exterior aesthetic that also provides convenience, safety, and added storage. Assess your garage to see if it just needs a paint job or a new one.

Revitalize the kitchen – The kitchen is the heart of any home. It is important that this space is modern and functional. Remember, people use this space to not only cook and eat but also entertain. A total kitchen overhaul may not be needed. A fresh coat of paint on the walls and cabinets may do as well as new hardware for the cabinets and drawers. You may also consider putting in new countertops and/or backsplash, replacing the sink and faucet, or putting in new flooring to spruce up this space more. Make sure you fix anything that is broken or cracked. Upgrade your appliances for newer and energy efficient ones too.

Replace the windows – This may not be an obvious item to upgrade in your home, but it is sure to add value to your home’s sale. Many of the newer homes offer energy savings. Replacing your old ones with Low-E windows will give your home the energy efficiency it needs to appeal to more buyers.

Do a bathroom remodel – You do not have to spend a lot of time or money remodeling your bathroom. Simply swap out the faucets and showerheads, repaint this space, and re-caulk the tub if needed. Take a look at the sink and faucet to see if a new one is needed as well.

Finish the basement – Buyers are usually not interested in having to do a total basement renovation. Look to finish your basement if you have not already done so. This will include adding drywall, insulation, and lighting. Buyers will have enough potential to work with in order to make this space their own. A basement space that is finished will definitely bring you more ROI.
