Ready Your Home for Holiday House Guests

Now that the holidays are right around the corner homes in Columbus, GA are getting ready for their out of town friends and family. Here are a few ways to make your home oh-so inviting for your holiday house guests.
Storage Space
Give your guests an area to place their coats and bags. If you have a coat closet in your foyer make room for your guests of if you have a mudroom clear an area or some pegs for your guests.
Furniture
Arrange your furniture in a way that encourages conversation. Don’t worry about matching your chairs and sofas. Try to keep seating the same height so that your visitors can talk at the same eye level. You also want to strategically place small side tables for drinks.
Pillows
Use decorative throw pillows to not only add color and texture to your room but to also add cushion. If you have a deep sofa or chair utilize throw pillows to make the seating more comfortable. If you have shallow seating skip the throw pillow and add a throw blanket to the back of the chair.
Carry-on
Include a place for your guest’s suitcase. You can use a chair or a bench that can help to serve as a place for their suitcase or a place to remove their shoes.
Nightstand
Stock the bedside tables with a light for reading, bottle of water, alarm clock, tissue, and pen and paper. Add a little color with a small vase of flowers.
Comfort
Create a comfy place for your guest lay their head. Add extra blankets or a throw to keep guest warm and cozy. Add extra pillows for propping up in bed or so your guest has a couple of options for sleeping. Some like fluffy pillows while others like flat.
Reading
Keep your guests in mind by stocking up their room with books. You can shop you for paper backs from your local used book store so that your guests are able to take the book home with them.
Bathroom
Stock the guest bath with extra toiletries for guests. They are bound to forget a toothbrush, razor, shampoo, etc. and luckily you will save them from a trip to the store.
Keeping these tips in mind will help your guests feel at home no matter how far away from their house they are.
