New Home Decorating Tips

February 9, 2021

One of the best things about buying a new home is being able to decorate it. You probably envisioned what you would like your new home to look like when you were touring homes in Midland GA. Your new home is a blank canvas waiting for you to put your personal touch on it. Use these tips to decorate your new home.

  1. Discover your style – Before decorating your home it is important to understand your decorating style. Do you prefer a more contemporary style or are you looking for something this is a little more traditional? Select a style that will make you happy, allow you to live comfortably, and will work well with your lifestyle and needs.
  1. Get inspired – Whether you use Pinterest, watch design shows, visit showrooms, or cut out photos from your favorite decorating magazines, you may want to get inspiration from various sources. This will allow you to see what is out there and what you can incorporate into your own decorating design.
  1. Do not rush to purchase items – You may have the urge to run out and just start buying things. Take stock of what you have and need in order to not buy items you do not actually need. This will also help you avoid impulse buying.
  1. Decorate room by room – Have a concise decorating design plan. Prioritize the rooms you spend the most time in first, such as the bedrooms, laundry room, and kitchen. Get the main pieces you will need for each room. These items include the bed, dining room table, entertainment center, and sofa. Do not feel obligated or pressured into buying everything at once. Other items, such as artwork and accessories, can be picked up at a later time.
  1. Things do not need to match – You may feel like things should match, but they do not. Try to avoid being all matchy matchy. You do not have to purchase the bedroom set in its entirety. This will allow you to put your own personal stamp on your home versus something that is straight out of the showroom.
  1. Unify the room with color – Consider incorporating area rugs, artwork, throw pillows, throw blankets, window treatments, and other accessories to help unify your room. The different colors pulled from these accessories will complement the colors in your overall decorating design.

We hope these tips will help you beautifully decorate your new home. If you happen to be in the market for a new home, we hope that you will consider Rose Anne Erickson Realty. Contact us today at 706-257-1776 to learn about our available homes in Midland GA.
