How to Decorate Your New Home for the Holidays
December 12, 2016
The holidays are a joyous time of year, and one way to celebrate the season is to place festive decorations around your home. If you recently moved into one of the new homes in Auburn AL, it’s a good opportunity to try out some new decorating ideas. Here are a few of our favorites:
Staircase Greenery – Dress up a staircase by wrapping swags of greenery around the railing or trailing down a banister for a classic holiday look.
Red Votives – Add an elegant touch to a tabletop display with the addition of a few artfully placed red glass votives.
Brown Paper Wrapping – Elevate the look of presents under the tree by wrapping them all in brown kraft paper, tied with coordinating green ribbons.
Hot Chocolate Station – Having guests over during the holidays? Set out some beautiful glass bowls full of hot chocolate fixings such as marshmallows and peppermints. The display doubles as a pretty decoration and perfect after-dinner treat.
Perfectly Mismatched Diningware – Treat your holiday guests to a unique dinner experience by setting the table with a mix of “shabby-chic” servingware such as cut glass water goblets, antique silver napkin rings, crystal punch bowls, and vintage dishes.
Bring Wreaths Indoors – It’s commonplace to see Christmas wreaths on the front doors of homes in most neighborhoods. But there’s no reason why you can’t display a holiday wreath or two indoors as well. One lovely way to enhance a blank white wall is to frame an interior window with a pair of plain green wreaths.
Bowl of Pinecones – Fill a decorative bowl with pinecones for a quick, easy coffee table decoration.
Chandelier Greenery – Add some holiday décor to your dining room chandelier by weaving some greenery through it.
Mini Christmas Trees – Pick out some mini evergreens at your local nursery and place them in tin buckets outside your front door, your deck or patio for a bit of holiday cheer.
