How to Create a Stunning Outdoor Living Space

May 22, 2016

how to decorate your porch
One of the favorite features of a new home that is greatly appreciated is a porch or patio. These types of outdoor living spaces are great for entertaining or simply relaxing with family. If you need some inspiration on how to decorate your porch or patio, here are a few suggestions.

Retro Prints – Create a distinctive mood to your porch with the addition of chairs that feature a retro print. One example is Brunschwig & Fils Les Fougères fabric from the 1940’s, which features a pattern of different varieties of fern branches.

Bright Colors – Keep cool in the summer by painting the walls of your enclosed porch a minty green, such as Benjamin Moore’s Sweet Celadon. Create a crisp contrast with the addition of chairs covered in a bright coral fabric. For an outdoor patio, mix modern and vintage furniture pieces in neutral colors and pair them with bright turquoise cushions and pillows.

Wonderful Wicker – Give your home a “beach house” vibe with the addition of some 60’s style white wicker patio furniture. If your screened porch features hardwood floors, add some beautiful modern wicker sofas to make the perfect all-American setting.

Relaxing with Rattan – Create a relaxed living area on your porch with the addition of some lovely rattan furniture, such as a couple of chairs, couch and table.

Comfy Sunporch – Combine a comfy living room with a sunporch to create the best of both worlds – the feeling of being outside with the comfort of indoor living. How? Paint the walls, ceilings and floors white; add in a white sofa with cushions and wicker tables.

Outdoor Living Room – Make a sweet sitting area outdoors by combining a colorful mix of accessories, vintage metal glider and chairs and a few decorative patterned pillows from Pottery Barn.

Classic Porch – Black wicker sofas with white cushions, black and white striped pillows and a sleek, black coffee table combine to produce a classic porch that is both casual and cozy.
