Auburn Library Invites Families to the Summer Learning Challenge
June 25, 2017
Low unemployment, an inviting college campus, and plenty of amenities are just a few of the reasons why people decide to buy homes in Auburn AL. Nicknamed “The Loveliest Village on the Plains,” this home of Auburn University is one of the fastest growing cities in the state. It also boasts a low student-to-teacher ratio, which gives students plenty of attention in the classroom.
Since education plays such a large role in Auburn, it’s no wonder that the Auburn Public Library has launched a Summer Learning Challenge to encourage entire families to read and learn for fun. From now until July 27, participants are encouraged to register for the challenge, set a learning goal, and then read or listen to a book for 20 minutes a day.
The Summer Learning Challenge is open to everyone, regardless of age. Prizes will be awarded, including a Nintendo Switch video game system. The library is providing bonus challenges, such as attending a library program or downloading an eBook, for extra chances to win.
In addition to the Summer Learning Challenge, the library is also providing innovative, entertaining programs during June and July, such as Magical Monday Matinees to watch the Harry Potter Movie Series, and take part in a special Harry Potter Craft Day.
Library patrons can learn about a variety of topics including Public Speaking and Raising Backyard Chickens during How-to Tuesdays. And Summer Serendipity Thursdays will feature special guests such as the Southeastern Raptor Center and the Skin & Bones Comedy Circus.
