4 Fun Events for November in Columbus

Shopping for new homes in Columbus GA is even more fun when you take time to attend one of the many local events that make the area a great place to live.

Whether you’re in the mood for an old-fashioned community fair or you’re ready to find some unique Christmas gifts, you can find it all this month. Here are details on four of the best events November has to offer:

Greater Columbus Fair

Nov. 8-18, hours vary

Columbus Civic Center

The fair is filled with everything you’d expect and more, from carnival rides and fun activities to good food and entertainment. Attractions include Bears of Bearadise, Torres Family Circus, a petting zoo and monster truck rides. Entertainment includes the Miss Georgia State Pageant. The ice skating rink will be open as well. Admission fees apply.

HolidayFest on the River

November 17, 10 am-5 pm

West Point River Park

Admission is free to this family event featuring arts and crafts vendors, food booths, inflatables, crafts for kids, a cyber game truck and laser tag. Music and entertainment are offered throughout the day. Kids can get photos with Santa and his friends from 2-4.

Ludy’s Christmas Lights Spectacular

Nov. 25 through New Year’s Eve, 6-10 pm weekdays, 6-10:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays

Ironstone Drive

Homeowner Jerry Ludy uses more than 150,000 lights to create an eye-popping holiday extravaganza. See animated snowmen having a snowball fight, a cannonball frog, moving ski lift and more. The display was featured on the ABC show “The Great Christmas Light Fight” in 2014. Donations are accepted for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Christmas Market

November 30-December 1, hours vary

The Bottling Plant Event Center, Opelika AL

More than 50 unique vendors offer their wares at this three-day holiday shopping event. Special promotions include the VIP Preview Party & Silent Auction on November 29 and Girls Night Out on November 30. Kids will enjoy Cookies with Santa on Dec. 1. The day begins with the Opelika Christmas Parade at 10 am, followed by cookies and photos with Santa. Admission fee of $10.00 is discounted to $5 for those who bring a new unwrapped toy or diapers for donation.
