3 Top Things to Consider When You Buy Patio Furniture
April 30, 2016
Once you buy a new home, you’ll have to start thinking about furnishings. If you’re moving from an existing home, you won’t have to buy too many new things – unless you want to, of course! But if you’re a first-time home buyer, you will likely have to add several new pieces. One area to consider for furniture is your patio, especially if you plan to do a lot of outdoor entertaining. Here are a few things to consider before you buy your patio furniture.
Value – It’s smart to look for sturdy, durable and affordable patio furniture, since you’ll get the most “bang for your buck” that way. However, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or comfort in the process. A durable woven wicker dining set in a neutral color like gray can be livened up with touches of color from potted plants and other simple décor elements, like pillows and place settings.
Customization and Flexibility – Most people select patio furniture and choose accessories to match. But if the set you’re interested in buying has more than a dozen color options, you may want to reverse that strategy. That means choosing a color for your dining set, sofa, ottomans, and chairs that coordinate with your favorite throw pillows or outdoor carpet.
Outdoor Accessories and Plants – When choosing patio furniture, consider what other items will take up space in your outdoor living area. A few choice accessories such as an outdoor console, coffee table and plants can have a big impact in the space. You might want to sketch out a diagram of your patio’s layout so you’ll be able to get an idea of where everything will go.
