Here are 20 ways to add shade to your favorite outdoor spot.

  1. Add a gazebo at the end of your deck for welcomed shade from the hot Georgia sun.

  1. Plant bananas trees (musa basioo) for some extra shade. They can grow two feet per week during warm weather. These plants will eventually top out at somewhere between 12 and 18 feet.
  1. If your deck is already pretty shade brighten it up with a brightly colored sailcloth over head.
  1. Add a small pergola to a compact deck or patio coupled with some palm trees to additional shade.
